I didn't share this openly on my social media channels, so this may come as a surprise to many of you. I was in a major car accident just about 11 days after our wedding in March. I totaled my car, my most favorite car in the world, probably ever, that I'd just paid off about 3 months before. The car title is still sitting in my drawer, fresh and winkle-free.
Yesterday, we celebrated being an officially married couple for one month. Time really flies!! It's ridiculous to think that it's been a month already. Yet things have felt different since we got married - we truly are a team now and we're in this together! That makes everything feel that much sweeter. It's quite incredible!
Gushing aside, I wanted to share with you guys my outfit hunting result when I was preparing for my bridal shower (in February) and rehearsal dinner (the day before the wedding). Both outfits are affordable (under $150), comfortable, super flattering, and most importantly, scream BRIDAL!
Since our wedding in mid-March, I've been asked about our honeymoon constantly. What we actually decided to do right after the wedding was to spend time with friends and family that flew in from out of state and out of the country. We spent a lot of time in the Carlsbad, California area with the family immediately following the wedding, and later in the week went to Vegas for a 3 day trip with my closest friends since college.. which brings me to this post today!
Spring is upon us!
But before we delve fully into florals and pastel colors only, let's talk about a fail-safe outfit template that I've stumbled upon recently: comfy trousers with a sporty flare topped with a nude trench vest that's warm and versatile for the Spring weather.
As a bride-to-be, this is perhaps THE MOST exciting part of the entire wedding planning process! To me it was the part that I wish would NEVER end; so I knew I had to document this part of wedding planning on the blog!
In this post, I will show you gowns from 5 different designers in various prince points. I let my consultant, Stacy, pick these out knowing what I like and don't like. I'll reveal the designer of my ACTUAL GOWN at the end of the post but, of course, not the actual dress. That will come after the wedding!
If you don't know what "athleisure" means, it's a new word that's been created to mean the fusion of athletic wear and leisure wear. You can also think of it as styles that make your everyday wardrobe more sporty and athletic.
Now, this obviously doesn't apply to the lawyers and business executives out there and their everyday outfits. But for the rest of us in the creative industry, sales and marketing, or smaller office where dresscode is more casual than business, you might be able to get by with it!
Everyone has their go-to outfit on days when they don't want to stand in front of a closet and think. If you have to dress for work 5 days a week, you're probably one of these people. For most of us, the concept of the capsule wardrobe is not new - find what works for you, and stick with it. Whether you've gotten around officially defining what that look is for you, it's never too late to start thinking about it.
Today on Cubicle Chic, I'm sharing with my "template" is, when it comes to something that ALWAYS works for me, Jessica, yours truly. But that's not it. I have 2 other career blogger friends whose styles are just on-point and I absolutely adore. I am sharing what their go-to outfits are with you too! Don't forget to keep scrolling to the bottom...
We are officially under 1 month away from the big day! Having just gone through a big of a crisis (more on that later) in my career, I am so ready to finish the last mile of my wedding planning process on a high note and in 3 weeks, walk down the aisle and marry my best friend!
In the next coming weeks, I have a hair appointment, final dress fitting, video shoot to finish up, and an appointment to apply for a marriage license. But I wanted to share some REAL insight and advice on what I've learned in the last 11 months with you today. If you're a bride to be, listen closely.. and if you've been there and done that, read on and laugh with (at) me!!
I am literally writing this during the Super Bowl game on Sunday. Did you guys enjoy the game? I loved Gaga's performance and those drones were amazing! Oh and the first ever over time in NFL history? Pretty amazing!!
So if this post sends you on a shopping spree, I apologize... JK, it's exactly my intention, HAHA!
First of all, thank you SO much for all of your responses to my last interview with Amanda from Poshmark. I love how some of you asked her more questions and we had more insightful conversation even after the article published. It’s such an incredible honor that I get to chat with these ambitious career women who are doing incredibly challenging but amazing things in their field. I hope to bring you more in the future!
When anxiety strikes, especially the favor that comes from work, the dark places that it takes us to is never pleasant and to make it worse, it feels inescapable. You feel paralyzed and that the only thing capable moving is your terrorizing thought about how incompetent, slow, and forgotten you are.
From now till April, I will be sharing bits and pieces of details of my wedding planning that I've really enjoyed. It's an ambitious goal... but I'm going to try to document this process as much as I can. On my list are things like wedding grown selection process, florist selection, and maybe how I found my wedding planner. (this will be a long one!) Is there anything in particular that you want to see?! Leave me a comment and let me know!
Hi you! Thank you for tuning in from your busy schedule. I promise you this is a good one!!

Whether you're flying to for work reasons or going home to see family during holiday season, airplane travel is sometimes unavoidable in this day and age. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I travel a decent about for work as well as leisure. Earlier this year, we've discussed how to dress for airplane travels and how to keep your sanity during business trip, Now, I want to share with you my secret weapon, ace up my sleeve, and the one and only method that's TRIED AND TRUE... my “anti-sickness essentials” kit!
Last week we talked about what to wear for the off-site kind of holiday party that's more formal and dressy. I featured the Morning Lavender Lynette dress that has since come back in stock! Check it out before they run out again!!
Now, there is the other type of company holiday party that happens during a normal work day. For these parties that happen in the office, perhaps a lunch gathering or a late afternoon happy hour, the dress code is usually a lot more laid back and casual....
Isn't this everyone's favorite season of the year? The crisp air, the string lights, the pops of green and read everywhere, the gifts.... and the shopping. OH, THE SHOPPING.
How bad was it, for Thanksgiving? What did you all get?? As part of my November shopping budget, I knew I wanted to get something for the holiday parties coming up. SO I was trying to be careful, only going down a very selectively curated list of shops I wanted to hit...
Who I’m thankful For This Season
Sorry I’ve been MIA on the blog for a couple of weeks now… life was kicking my butt with work-work, family business work (which took me to Amsterdam… did you see that on Instagram?), wedding planning, and prepping for all the holiday content that’s coming up. But tis the season of our collective favorite time of the year, aren’t you excited??
As a Cubicle Chic reader, you’ve probably heard about me talking DailyLook’s regularly (see why I love DailyLook here). Today I want to take you through the process of unboxing a DailyLook Elite Box, including what comes in each box, and how I styled the pieces I decided to keep!
Thanks to a few business trips, in 2016 I’ve traveled alone more than I had done in my entire life previously. I’ve journeyed through Munich, Neuschwanstein, D.C., and Boston, all by myself.
Before you want to cue Celine Dion’s All By Myself for me…. Hear me out.
I am constantly trying to spruce up my work wardrobe. It’s one of the reasons why I started this blog, which is to share my outfit ideas with all of you and to know what other office dwelling women are wearing.
I haven't written about outfits in a while on Cubicle Chic. So let's talk about one of the hottest trends lately - the pajamas for day time style.
I am inviting you to come backstage to Cubicle Chic, and see what it's like to be a blogger with a fledgling blog and all the struggles and inner demons I deal with on a daily basis.
I've been blogging for a little over a year now and I am JUST starting to feel like I have a good handle on it. Things like photo shoots, editorial calendar, the collaboration with brands, and the writing can get really overwhelming sometimes, but having had a whole year's of experience now really gives me more confidence now.
Speaking Engagement...What Do I Wear??
If you read my post earlier this week on how I conquered my deadly fear in public speaking, you know that I was invited to speak at a fashion conference organized by Poshmark every year in the Fall. It wasn't my first public speaking experience, but certainly the first time to speak in front of HUNDREDS of fashion obsessed ladies. I knew I had to bring my A-game in terms of my outfit.
The truth is that most people have some form of fear of public speaking, We’ve all been there: dealing with the knot in our stomach, the sinking feeling of doom, and that the world is going to end when people find out about your deadly fear of speaking in front of a crowd. For those of us that want to become better speakers, we try to find articles on how to improve presentation skills, find resources to get practice like joining a Toastmaster group, or going through paid trainings like the Dale Carnegie programs. Here is my confession: I have tried them ALL. I’ve even seen therapists for my stage freight. My fear was THAT real.
For us career-oriented and ambitious types, talking about "how to think about taking vacation", at first glance, seems frivolous and superfluous.
But we all know burnouts are real, and that work-life balance requires true "time-off" from the constant hustling. Let's face it, it's hard enough to think about work even if you're away from your computer/cell phone/meetings, sometimes all of us just need conscious and intentional effort to create a space that allows our body and brain to re-charge.
With the official start of fall just 1 day away (this year's autumnal equinox falls on 9/22/16), are you, or more precisely, is your wardrobe ready for the change of season?
In my last Elite Box from Dailylook, I received this adorable summer pink dress as one of the curated items. Again, it's something I typically wouldn't even reach for, and the stylist at DailyLook picked it out for me and it was such a pleasant surprise!
GREAT PUSHUP BRAS ARE HARD TO FIND!
Fact 1: I am SUPER finicky when it comes to bras. I have only worn 1 style of Victoria's Secret bra and multiple Gilly Hicks bras in my life-time. On average, I could only find 2-3 styles of bras every year that I actually like and will wear. I have tried numerous other styles and most end up going back to the store or staying at the bottom of my drawer.
I'm not gonna lie. In San Diego, if it weren't because of the emergence of pumpkin spice latte, I would have had no idea that Fall has befallen upon us!
The change of season this year coincided with the start of a new job for me. Needless to say, I have been nonstop thinking about new things to add to my work wardrobe. The smart thing to do, though, is to find accessories and outerwear that turn summer outfits into fall-appropriate looks!
There are the obvious benefits of having a mentor - someone who shows you the ropes, helps with career planning and guidance, is there to offer advice when you encounter problems. But...
But if this is all your mentor provides for you, you might have what I call a "basic mentor." Finding a basic mentor, or any mentor for that matter, is not an easy task. Finding a great mentor, though? Flat out difficult.
Here are some signs that your mentor is more than basic.
